ATOMIC SAMAN - Saman The Doom 2025

Saman The Doom, released via SloomWeep Productions is a coma inducing chunk of Chinese stoner doom doused with a heavy, lumbering tone induced by a pulsating fuzz laden bassline. There is a 70's feel to the album but with a density to it particularly with the final track 'Weedsky' which has elements of old school doom such as Saint Vitus but encompassing the intensity of early Electric Wizard.

Speaking of weed, the vocals sound totally wasted which adds a rawness to the sound in perfect contrast to the otherwise powerhouse doom riffs.

ANOINTING THE SICK #245 ~ Gazing Up At The Floor Of Hell

There's a place even deeper underground than The Ninth Circle of Hell and it's called the Anointing The Sick Metal Blog and what could be more apt than opening the show with a band called Horrible with a track off their album 'Filth then following up with some nihilistic party slop from deathsters Trunk, both albums can be purchased for NYP on Bandcamp. There's a heavy stoner/doom/psych presence this week including albums from Dusted Angel and Stone Machine Electric that entered September's Doom Charts. The random pick this week and also the showpiece track is the immense sludge of Sea Bastard. I saw them a couple of times in Manchester years ago supporting the likes of Graves at Sea and Sourvein and I never recovered.
